It’s Lovely, Come On In: Debut Album by thredd – Out Now via Scenic Route

The debut album, It’s Lovely, Come On In, has been released by thredd through the independent label Scenic Route. The record was created during a unique and spontaneous residency at Laylow in West London, where new songs were written and performed live each week.

About The New Release — The project was formed by musicians Will Lister, Max Winter, and Imogen and The Knife. Their collaboration was sparked during a four-week residency in November 2023, when Laylow’s basement was transformed into a temporary studio. Each week, new songs were written and performed without delay, allowing instinct to guide the creative process. The result was a sound that felt immediate and emotionally raw, with little time given to overthinking or refinement. The Painter, Mo Lowda & The Humble’s earlier released single is included in the new album. Built across many towns, days, and cabins, the bouncy, melodic tune came to life in Pioneertown, CA. While drawing jazz-inspired guitar tones from 1970s Pat Metheny and Robert Fripp, Jeff Lucci (bass, guitar, keyboard, vocals) also reflects on the ongoing struggle to stay ambitious and inspired, especially after the initial creative spark fades. Ultimately, finishing things is hard, but he believes it’s everything.

Led by a steady, shuffling synth guitar loop, “The Painter” encourages creativity. It shakes off writer’s block with its yacht rock-esque, relaxed energy. Jordan Caiola (lead vocals, guitar, bass) says the track tells the story of an artist facing doubt, pressure, and the challenge of finding inspiration to begin and complete work. With the theme “every canvas starts empty,” the song aims to give creators the push and confidence to share their work.

The previously shared double single “7.31/Sara’s Got Big Plans,” also included in the now-released latest album, shows the band coming to terms with change, while wishing the best to a past love through their signature warmth, gang vocals, and rhythm guitar. Meanwhile, earlier this year, they released the lush, guitar-driven track “Canary.” Its splashy animated music video delves into the nerves of a budding new romance.

Keke Palmer shared a statement about the album’s meaning. “Just Keke is the mark of a new era for me,” she said. “It’s an evolution of everything I had to be and become to survive and grow. It’s about fragmentation and the path to integration.” The project was created with Tayla Parx, who has been a close friend for over two decades. Together, they crafted a deeply personal and reflective body of work.

Following 125 Degrees, the next single released was My Confession. Keke has described the song as a way to express feelings that are hard to say out loud. “Music helps me say things I don’t always want to speak,” she shared. The original version was written and produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, and Usher Raymond. A new interpretation was created by Tayla Parx, Kameron Glasper, and Keke Palmer, with production by Jeia, Albin Tengblad, and Tayla Parx.

Another standout track from the album is Off Script. This song was one of the first to be written for the project. According to Keke, it reflects a turning point in her life. “I’m a Virgo and an actress—everything used to have structure,” she said. “But I reached a moment where I had to embrace life as it came. That’s what this song represents for me.” A mix of vulnerability and strength has been captured in the lyrics and sound.

About The Artist — Keke Palmer has been widely recognized as an Emmy Award-winning actress, singer/songwriter, producer, television host, and New York Times best-selling author. She was honored with the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Entertainer of the Year. Her performance in Jordan Peele’s film Nope was praised by critics and audiences, earning her a New York Film Critics’ Circle Award for Best Supporting Actress. Roles have also been voiced by her in Disney/Pixar’s Lightyear and Disney+’s The Proud Family. Hosting duties have been taken on by Palmer for NBC’s Password with Jimmy Fallon, where history was made as she became the first Black woman and first woman in 15 years to win the Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host. Her podcast, Baby, This is Keke Palmer, was launched with Wondery/Amazon and quickly broke records. Upcoming roles will be seen in The Backup with Kevin Hart, Super Toys by David O. As a trailblazer, Palmer has broken multiple barriers, including becoming the youngest talk show host in history and the first Black woman to win an Emmy for game show hosting. Her activism and advocacy continue to inspire young people to use their voices and create change.

Now, as the 45th anniversary is celebrated, a new vision is being embraced. With Journey Within, a fresh format has been launched—one that focuses on artist-led albums and creative collaborations.

About The New Release — The album was chosen after being discovered by Café del Mar’s resident DJ and music curator, Ken Fan. According to Fan, the tracks were tested during live sets, and the audience response was immediate and enthusiastic. “People were Shazaming the songs and asking about them every time,” he shared. “That’s when I knew this album had something special. It’s the perfect way to begin our artist album series.” Pig&Dan, who are known for their high-energy techno performances at festivals like Tomorrowland and Awakenings, have taken a different path with this release.
